Susan "Sue" Lois (Lindley) Starkey, 78, of Sullivan, Ohio, passed away on Thursday December 9, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born on November 13, 1943 to the late Selma (Bambam) and Carleton Lindley, and she was a lifelong resident of Brunswick until she moved to Sullivan in retirement. She married the love of her life, James "Jim" Starkey on July 24, 1971.

Sue graduated from Brunswick High School as one of the "Girls of '61." After graduation, she received her bachelor's degree from Otterbein University in 1965. Sue worked as a German and English teacher at Western Reserve Schools until 1975 to raise her sons. In the 80's and 90's she also served as a substitute teacher at Brunswick City Schools.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Brunswick Hills Fire Department, where she also worked as a dispatcher through the years. Sue and her husband were a part of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. When her sons were in Cub Scout, she served as a pack leader of Troop 3516.

Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she could be found decorating the tree on Thanksgiving evening and making Christmas cookies and candies the whole month of December. Sue was thrilled to take trips to Amish County and motorcycle trip with her husband. In her free time, Sue enjoyed reading, watching television, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Sue is survived by her children, Carleton (Patricia) Starkey and Bill (Jacquie) Starkey; grandchildren, Anthony (Jessica) Young, Emily (Dani) Cervellino, Alexis Young, Tori Weber, Adam Osborne, Anthony Ambers, Hannah Starkey, and Kayla Starkey; six great-grandchildren; and her four-legged companion, Chase.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Starkey on December 21, 2016.

Sue's family would like to extend special appreciation to all her neighbors that helped her over the years for all their love and support for Sue and her family.

Her family will receive guests at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, Ohio 44851 on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. She will be cremated, and a private burial will take place at a later date for Sue and Jim at Westview Cemetery in Brunswick, Ohio.
