Thelma Lucas, of Wellington, died on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, under the care of Holy Family Hospice in Parma at the age of 97. The daughter of the late Elmer and Ellen (Brucker) Baxter, Thelma was born in Amherst Township on June 17, 1928. She graduated from Amherst High School.
She worked as a waitress at the Nimrod Club in Lagrange and as a receptionist for Dr. Hartman. Later, Thelma became an administrative secretary at the National Association of College Stores (NACS), where she retired in 1988. Thelma was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Parish.
Fiercely independent, Thelma lived on her own until recently and was always extremely organized and neat. She liked keeping her family in order and was never idle - always finding something to do.
