Thomas A. Cawrse, age 63, of New London, died Monday, January 14, 2008 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, after a sudden illness.
Mr. Cawrse was born March 23, 1944 in New London, son of the late, Wallace & Alice (Shipman) Cawrse. He was a life long area resident and a 1962 graduate of New London High.
Tom had farmed all of his life and was a Fitchville Township Trustee for 19 years. He served 19 years on the Northern Ohio Rural Water Authority; serving as president the past 10 years. He was a member of the Fitchville United Methodist Church and active with the Emmaus Community. Tom was a former 4H leader, Boy Scout leader and New London High School Music and Athletic Booster. He was a 26 year member and past master of the New London Masonic Floral Lodge # 260. He was a member of the Fitchville Grange, where he served as an officer and a member of the New London Eagles #2869. Avid sports enthusiast who loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia (Fenner) Cawrse; a daughter, Nancy (Bret) Cooke of New Philidelphia; 3 sons, Alan (Amy) Cawrse of New London, Keith (Kari) Cawrse of Mansfield and Mark (Rebecca) Cawrse of Loudonville, Ohio; 9 grandchildren, Mitchel, Tyler, Evan, Andrew, Anthony, Allison and Austin Cawrse and Makenna and Lanndrie Cooke; a brother, Carl (Shirley) Cawrse of New London; and 2 sisters, Jean (Jim) Miller of New London and Ann (Rick) Malone of Davie, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rilynn Grace Cooke.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 and 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London, where funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2008. Pastor Tom Matus will officiate and burial will follow in the Fitchville Cemetery.
