Charville
June 4, 1947 – May 26, 2022
Thomas D. Charville, 74, of Monroeville, Ohio, died May 26, 2022 peacefully in his home after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 4, 1947 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Leighton and Mary (Gies) Charville and was a lifelong Monroeville resident.
Tom was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Peru, Ohio. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Monroeville High School in 1965. Tom served in the Army National Guard of Ohio in Norwalk and was a member of Monroeville American Legion Post 547 where he served in the Honor Guard.
Tom was a truck driver most of his working life and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years fishing on Lake Erie for yellow perch, bird watching with his wife, fixing and building useful items in his barn, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a longtime blood donor and encouraged others to give. Tom loved to garden and especially enjoyed growing sweet corn and tomatoes. Every summer he would anticipate the taste of the first ripe tomato and was happy sharing his harvest with family and friends. Tom was loved by others for his humorous and friendly nature and made sure family and friends never took life too seriously.
Tom married his wife of 50 years, Dolores Schafer on October 9, 1971 at St. Alphonsus Church, Peru.
He is survived by his wife and sons; Dennis (Angie) Charville of Toledo, Ohio; Dustin (Jen) Charville of Morrow, Ohio, David (Misty) Charville of Perrysburg, Ohio and Dan (Karrie) Charville of Pleasant Plain, Ohio; granddaughters, Katelyn, Haley, Lillian and Avery; grandsons, Carson, Caden, Griffin, Cooper and Leighton, brother Jon (Candy) Charville of New London, Ohio, sisters Mary Ann (Joe dcd.)
