Thomas E. Guyer, Sr. born July 6, 1939 and passed away January 27, 2025 at the age of 85.
Preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Stanley Guyer; wife, Ann
Guyer, (nee Mole), and Mary Guyer, (nee Williams), and his grandson Drew
Guyer. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tom Guyer, Jr. and
Brandi Guyer (nee Teasdale), of Wellington; step daughter, Lisa Zahuranec
(Anthony Zahuranec), of Wellington; step sons, David and Lanelle
Williams, of New London, and Dewayne and Beth Williams
of Sheffield; step grandchildren, Robert Shays and Tiffany Eastman, of
Grafton, Alyssa Shays, of Wellington, Colton Shelton, of Indiana, Jarett and Morgan Williams, of New London, Madison Williams, of New
London, Alexis Williams, of Sheffield, Maddox Williams, of Sheffield,
Makayla Williams, of Elyria, and Macie Williams, of Florida; step great
Grandchildren, Kyler Shays, of Grafton and Laya Williams, of Norwalk.
Tom enlisted in the United States Navy and served with honor.
Tom started a long and successful career as a golf course superintendent,
working at Echo Valley Golf Club in Wellington, Ohio. He then had the
opportunity to work at Pheasant Run Golf Course in LaGrange, Ohio,
where he was instrumental in building the new nine holes, making it a very
popular 18 hole course through the late 1980's and 1990's. He ended is
superintendent career at Brunswick Hills Golf Course (Cossett Creek). He
was a long-time member of the Wellington Eagles where he golfed in many
state tournaments and leagues. From 1982 to 1994 he was the head
coach of the Wellington High School Golf team. To this day he is the most
successful golf coach in Wellington history. Leading his teams to 5
conference championships and 2 state qualifying teams in the early 90's.
During their time almost 30 years together Mary and Tom enjoyed going
out to eat, going to garage sales and watching the grandchildren. He loved
anything Ohio to include watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland
Browns, Guardians and Cavaliers.
