Thomas Edward McCoppin, Sr., 88, of New London, passed away December 6, 2020 at Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.   He was born June 4, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late James and Ruth (Davidson) McCoppin.   Tom grew up in New Martinsburg, Ohio.   Moved to Michigan for a time and has lived in New London for the past 66 years.   He served in the US Navy during the Korean war and served in Newfoundland, Canada.  Tom had worked at Nickles Bakery for several years, at Ohio Body in New London until they closed, Nabisco Brands in Seville, Ohio then for the New London Schools Maintenance Dept. until his retirement.   He was a member of the New London American Legion and the New London Eagles.

Tom is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley (Marsh) McCoppin; his children, Thomas E. (Chris) McCoppin, Jr. of New London, Marsha "Susie" McCoppin Scheerer of Norwalk and Lori McCoppin of New London;  3 grandchildren, Tommy (Kaila) McCoppin, Sara (Kyle) Smith, Matthew (Katie) Scheerer;  8 great grandchildren;   many nieces and nephews;  his brother in law and sister in law, Ted (Jane) Marsh.   He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Annabelle Gentry and his brother in law, Kenny Gentry.
