Thomas P. Mundy, 67, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully in his sleep, after an illness, on August 24, 2020 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky. He was born on December 1, 1952 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Samuel P. and Patricia R. (Moore) Mundy. Thomas attended EHOVE and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1970. He served his country honorably as part of the National Guard.
Tom and his loving wife, Connie (Hinckley) met when she was 14. Together they traveled many places, including 46 states, making many wonderful memories along the way. This year they celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. Tom is also survived by a son, Matthew (Roya) Mundy of Romeoville, IL and several nieces, nephews, other family members and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, Dan Mundy.
Tom will be remembered for his robust laugh and joyful singing. He was known as the "King of the Heap" from the Lorain County Fair. He ran the Huron County Derby for many years during the 1980's and 90's and had participated in many himself as well. Tom never missed a feature. He loved his Harley and had rebuilt a 1938 Chevy Coupe. Thomas was a member of the Norwalk Eagles 711 and American Legion Post 41 clubs. He was a talented diesel mechanic and had his own garage at one time. He had also worked for Mark Schaffer Excavating and Trucking, New Horizon Trucking (Sunrise), Kurtz Bros. and most recently Smith Paving.
