Thymen A. Krikke, age 93, passed peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home to be with his Lord on October 19, 2011.
He was born on June 29, 1918 in Oudehaske in Friesland, the Netherlands to Arend Thymen and Lolkje (Veldman) Krikke.
After serving in the Dutch Army during World War II, he, with his wife and daughter, immigrated to the United States from the Netherlands in 1951. He settled on his farm in Greenwich and worked at General Motors in Mansfield, as a tool and die maker for 32 years. He was a member of the Christian Alliance Church in Willard.
Thymen is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sally (Sipkje de Vries); daughter, Florence of Fairborn, Ohio; sons, Arthur C. of Greenwich, Howard T. (Jane) of Greenwich, and Lorin K. (Michelle) of North Royalton; grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel, Nathan, Anna, Katie, Molly and Emily and great-granddaughter, Laura. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother still residing in the Netherlands.
Thymen was preceded in death by his brother, Klaas and a granddaughter, Laura Jane.
The Krikke family will receive friends on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Christian Alliance Church, 124 Maple St., Willard. A thanksgiving and memorial service for Thymen's home going will be held at 2 p.m. on October 22, 2011 immediately following the visitation with the Rev. Jim Trainer officiating. Burial will follow at Nineveh Cemetery in Greenwich.
