Timothy Hall Searles, age 78, formerly of Beacon New York, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. Born September 29, 1947 in New York, he was the son of Robert and Nancy (Kennedy) Searles.
As a youth he was active in the Boy Scouts of America having achieved the rank of Star Scout and was inducted into that organization's Order of the Arrow. He played tackle on the Beacon NY High School Football team and was that school's class president in his senior year there. He built a sailboat that he sailed with his friends on the Hudson River; his mother Nancy completely fabricated the sail on her Singer sewing machine. Tim welded together a camping trailer for the family in the front yard of their house in New York State (Again with his mother on the Singer sewing machine fabricating the pop up tent from heavy canvas that would pop up as the beds of the camper were slid out on their tracks).
After a short stint in collage at Oswego State College in New York he joined the US Army during the Vietnam War era and was stationed in Thailand where he fell in love with the country and its people. Following his military service, Tim served the Tower Church in Lorain Ohio, following his Lord’s leading to live the rest of his life loving the people of Jesus as a missionary in Thailand.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife of over fifty years, Alice Maureen (Work); children, Heather of Ohio, Gavan of Arizona, Gretchen of Ohio, Marci of Georgia, Abigail of Ohio, Isaac of Georgia, and Benjamin of California; grandchildren, Alice, Bri-ann, Margaret, Cathy, Daquota, Emmanual, Garrett, Franchesca, Howard, Gabriella, Grayson, Jasmine, Austin, David, Allyssa, Cyana, Hannah, Zachary, Hillary, Lilah, Robert, Vanessa, Tarra, Charlie, and Terry; 5 great-grandbabies with more on the way; and three brothers, David, Paul, and Daniel.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nancy Searles; a sister, Kathy; and a son, Michael.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service for Tim on Saturday, January 3, 2026 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in New London.
