Tom E. Garfield III., 67, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by family and loved ones.
Tom worked at Xerxes in Avon and farmed most of his life. He was a member of the Huron County Heritage Club, LaGrange Engine Club, Ashland County Tractor Club and attended the New London Methodist Church. He enjoyed tinkering with lawn tractors, collecting farm toys, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly (nee Davidson) of 44 years; daughters, Cindy (Rick) Workinger of West Salem, Shirley (Erik) Von Kamp of New London; granddaughters, Brittany and Kassy Von Kamp; sister, Doris Takacs of Bellville; nieces, Beth (Rex) Southard, Kathy (Dale) Fry; nephew, Julius (Sharon) Takacs, several great nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas E. II. and Lillian Garfield; brother, Dennis and sister, Jean.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London where a service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Ben Black officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. If desired, memorial contributions may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
