Obituary

Valena Ethel Oldaker, 78, of Wellington, died Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Westlake. She was born on December 26, 1933 in Glenmont, to the late Raymond and Loretta (nee Brown) Kaser. Valena grew up in Ashland and was a 1952 graduate of Ashland High School. For nearly 20 years Valena worked as a police dispatcher for the Wellington Police Department. She enjoyed and was very skilled at many types of crafts, ranging from knitting and crocheting to ceramics and beadwork. Valena is survived by her children, Roger (Sarah) Oldaker of New London, Candy (Doug) Hall of Attica, and Jill Oldaker of Medina, grandchildren, Bret Oldaker of Wellington and Matt and Robbie Bishop both of Attica. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Lindecamp of Ashland. Valena was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 2001. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 24, from 4-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington. Burial will take place at a later date at Vermilion Cemetery in Hayesville. Donations in Valena's memory may be directed to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 East 185th St., Cleveland, 44119.
