Vara Margaret (Kidd) Hamilton, age 97, of New London, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born September 14, 1927 in Honaker, Kentucky, to the late Ruben Mack and Phoeba Ann (Collins) Kidd, she would later relocate to New London where she would raise her family.

A beloved wife, homemaker, and mother, she cherished the years that she spent raising her five children. Later, she was an involved grandmother and great-grandmother who spent time making memories with all that she knew and loved. Vara also enjoyed spending time outside, growing bountiful gardens and flowers which she was very proud of.

Left to cherish Vara's memory are her four daughters, Anna Hamilton of New London, Ohio, Darlene (Carson) Jones of Monroevile, Ohio, Barbara Swiger of New London, Ohio, and Rita (Phillip) Skinn of Norwalk, Ohio; a sister, Hazel Hamilton of Betsylayne, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; 31great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, family, and friends.

Vara was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Hamilton; a son, Danny Ray Hamilton; five brothers, Willie, Luther, Cecil, Ransome, and Rufford; three sisters, Myra Ellen, Minta, and Betty Jean.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, OH 44851 from 11:00 am until services begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow services on Sunday at Grove Street Cemetery in New London.
