Vernon Hammons, 86, of LaGrange, died at home with his family by his side on Monday, June 3, 2024. On October 24, 1937, Vernon was born and raised in London, Kentucky to the late Green and Allie Hammons.
In 1992, Vernon retired from Ford Motor Company where he worked in the upholstery department making cushions. Vernon loved hunting, especially coon and squirrel. He could often be found visiting his friends and family or at gun shows, trading and selling.
He was a founding member of Trinity Temple Church, where he also served as a board member and a deacon. He and his wife loved performing skits at church.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 18 years, Paula (nee Celaschi); son, Danny Clyde (Jenny Patsch) Hammons, of Castalia; stepchildren, Nicole Katherine Raab, of Toledo; Emily (Daniel) Rangel, of Wakeman and Anthony Tompkins, of LaGrange; grandchildren, Katherine Campbell, Victoria Leiby, Alyssa Brisendine, Guy Hartman, Emery Rangel, Logan Rangel, and Holly Caudill; great grandchildren, Francesca and Hayden and his sister, Ann Flemming. Vernon was preceded in death by his first wife, Ava Gale and siblings, Lela, Kenny, Johnny, Ruby, Victor and Jean.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service at Trinity Temple Church, 4708 State Route 113 E, Norwalk, OH 44857, with Pastors Ben Patrick, Larry Stinson, and Danny Rangel officiating. Burial will take place on Monday, June 10 at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Berlin Heights.
