Obituary

Vernon E. Van Scoy, 72, of Collins, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk after a year long battle with cancer. He was born in Norwalk on August 20, 1938 to the late Ralph and Gertrude (Underwood) Van Scoy. Vernon lived in Greenwich most of his life and resided in Collins for the past six years. He was a 1956 graduate of Greenwich High School. Vernon worked for Horn's in Shelby, Sohigro and retired from Landmark in Elgin, Ohio. He served on the Greenwich Volunteer Fire Department for many years and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960 as an Air Traffic Controller. Survived by his wife of 48 years, Priscilla (Gibson) Van Scoy, son, Roger (Brenda) Van Scoy of Gibsonia, PA, daughters, Kimberly Ebner Van Scoy of Wellington and Melissa (Jeff) Hamilton of Shelby, grandchildren, Briana and Corey Van Scoy, Logan Ebner and Erin Hamilton. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Van Scoy of Greenwich and brother, Clinton (Barb) Van Scoy of Sandusky. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 19th from 7-9 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main Street, Greenwich where a funeral service will take place Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Carl Fannin officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
