Vernon (Vern) Eugene Swick passed peacefully at Hope Memory Care Center on August 29, 2024, in Fayetteville, Georgia with his family by his side.

He was born on November 3, 1940, in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Howard and Mary Swick (nee Zureich). He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sandra Swick (Boose); daughter Kris Hurt (Mark) of New Albany, OH; son Scott Swick (Karen) of Elkhart, IN; daughter Cindy Finley (Matt) of Hartwell, GA; and grandchildren, Andrew Warner (Callie), Adam Warner, Chad Warner (Abby), Alyssa Burgett (Ben), Brittany Kirby (Matt), Brooke Hurt, Brendan Swick, Lucy Cataldo (Tony), Nathan Swick, Benjamin Swick, Abraham Swick (Danuta ), Catherine Swick, MaryClare Chittle (Adam), Joseph Swick, Elizabeth Swick, Kadi Swick, Kelsey Bennett (Jeff), Gabrielle Dalton (Kohl), Nolan Finley, and Kallen Finley; and greatgrandchildren, Adalynn Warner, Raelynn Warner, Shea Warner, Zoe Kirby, Logan Kirby, Gabriella Swick, Autumn Swick, Beckett Cataldo, Vivienne Bennett, Josie Bennett, Caraline Dalton, Grayson Dalton, and Amelia Dalton. He is also survived by his sibling, Mary Generose Boose and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beautiful baby girl, Kelly Swick (1967), brothers, Tom Swick and Kevin Swick, brothers-in-law, Tom Hosang, John Tien, James Boose; sister-in-law Debra Boose, father-in-law, Raymond Boose and Mother-in-law, Madeline Boose (nee Widman).

Highlights of his early years included playing baseball, delivering newspapers, playing with the 'State Street' kids, and growing up with his siblings Mary Generose, Kevin and Tom in Norwalk.

Vern Swick was a Marine. He was a proud U.S. Marine, finishing his service with the rank of Corporal in 1962. While in the Marines, he achieved the position of #1 sharpshooter on the U.S. Marine Corp Pistol Team, traveling to various competitions nationwide.

Vern Swick was a salesman and entrepreneur. Vern was a gifted salesman starting his career with Grill Meats in 1962 and then honing his skills throughout various industries. In true 'Vern Swick spirit', he decided he wanted to manage his own business and he made it happen by bringing his dream to life opening "Maple Valley Meats" in 1977. This business became his pride and joy, with the entire family contributing to its success. He went on to establish several businesses before he retired in 2007.

Vern Swick was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He married Sandra Boose on August 17, 1963, and they began their shared journey. Their shared journey took the couple to Pennsylvania, California, Wisconsin, Nevada, Ohio, and eventually to Georgia where they retired, making treasured friends along the way. He embraced fatherhood, dedicated to giving his children and grandchildren the best lives possible. He cherished time with his family, and they in turn cherished him throughout their lives as well. He joined them in various activities, graduations, weddings, and loved their visits and vacationing with them whenever possible. He loved traveling with his wife to different parts of the country along with their love of golf together. He always had fun playing, no matter his score or even when he had to pay Sandy a dollar per round when she won. Vern was well known as an avid Notre Dame football fan, and was so proud of his Notre Dame golf cart. He loved going to home football games and being a part of the excitement and traditions in South Bend. He cherished his family above all else, and they in turn cherished him throughout their lives as well.

Vern Swick was a man of faith . A lifelong Catholic, he served as an altar server at St. Mary's Catholic Church, attended Catholic Schools, and graduated in 1958 from St. Paul High School in Norwalk. Vern lived his faith through always putting others before himself and working hard to achieve the life he wanted to live.
