Obituary

Viola Mary (Weisenberger) Missler, 95, of Norwalk, Ohio entered into the kingdom of Heaven peacefully on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Norwalk Memorial Home after an extended illness.  Viola was born October 2, 1925, in Townsend, and lived in Norwalk her entire life.  She was a 1943 graduate of Norwalk St. Paul High School.

Viola loved her faith.  She was a proud, active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, member of the Altar Rosary Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Vocation Committee, and Norwalk Area Food Bank.  While raising seven children, she was a seamstress, an avid gardener, and for forty years the bookkeeper for the family tavern, Harold's Bar in Norwalk and Bob's Bar in Fremont.  She especially enjoyed her hour each week in the Adoration Chapel, spending time with Jesus.

Viola married the late Harold Philip Missler on October 6, 1948, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Norwalk.  She is survived by her loving and grateful children and their spouses; Sister Susan Mary, SND of Whitehouse, Ohio, Steven and Margaret (Yungvirt) of Prosper, Texas, Father John of Port Clinton, Ohio, Daniel and Denise (Keller) of Norwalk, Ohio, Julia and David Filipucci of Melbourne, Florida, Jennifer and Robert Korte of Byron Center, Michigan, and Janet and Keith Madaras of Pemberville, Ohio; by her precious grandchildren, Bradley (Lauren) Missler, Jared Missler, Brianna Missler, Thomas (Erica) Filipucci, Robert Filipucci, Madeline Korte, Victoria Korte, Annabella Korte, Seraphina Korte, Christopher (Hannah) Madaras, Ashley Madaras and Zachary Madaras; by her great grandchildren, Quinn Madaras, Ainsley Filipucci, Brynley Filipucci and Brock Missler; by her brother Fr. Leon Weisenberger, MSC; by her sisters in-law, Harriet Weisenberger and Marie Stieber, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harold P. Missler; her parents, Alphonsus and Victoria (Camp) Weisenberger; by her siblings and their spouses, Martha and Frank Meyers, Paul Weisenberger, Norma and Romie Gies, Clarence and Marie Weisenberger, Verna and Richard Mayle, Raymond Weisenberger, Mary Weisenberger, Rita and Robert Missler (Rita preceded Viola in death by seven hours), by her in-laws, Arnold and Ethel Missler and Ronald Stieber.

Due to coronavirus, visitation will be private, only for the family.  A funeral Mass (public) for those able to attend will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk, with Viola's son, Fr. John, as presider.  All guests are required to bring and wear a mask and practice all social distancing and mass gathering guidelines.  Burial, next to her husband, will follow in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Norwalk.  The family invites those unable to attend to watch the Mass online via the livestream link by visiting: www.stpaulchurch.org.
