Obituary

Virgie Mae Ratliff, 77, of Elyria, died Friday, December 7, 2018, at home. Born on October 1, 1941 in Rogersville TN, she was the daughter of the late George and Fran (nee Davenport) Shanks. Virgie came to Ohio as a child and lived in the Elyria and North Ridgeville area most of her life. Virgie worked as a school bus driver for North Ridgeville schools for 27 years. She was an active member of Eaton Baptist Church and later attended Chestnut Baptist Church. At one time Virgie enjoyed bowling and playing bingo as well as doing sweepstakes. She cherished spending time with her family, at gatherings and cookouts, and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Charles Ratliff; children Jenny (Steve) Moomaw, Larry (Stacie) Ratliff, Michael (Peggy) Ratliff; grandchildren Matthew Charlton, Dustin Ratliff, Christie Moomaw, Audrey Ratliff, Emma Ratliff; great-grandson Noah Charlton; siblings Margaret Brown, George Shanks, Ernie Shanks , and Brenda Hale. She was preceded in death by her sisters Linda Rose and Annie Cromer. Friends and family will be received on Sunday, December 9, from 4-7 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington, where services will be held on Monday beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Cemetery.
