Virginia Dare (Ganoe) Mahoney, 91, New London, passed away April 11, 2018, at The Laurels of New London surrounded by her family after a six year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Virginia was born March 28, 1927, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to David Lester Ganoe and Daisy Pearle (Springer) Ganoe, the youngest of eight children. Virginia graduated from Uniontown Pennsylvania High School in 1945. She married her next door neighbor sweetheart, Harry Wallace Mahoney, September 15, 1946. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage prior to Harry passing away in 2013. Virginia's greatest joys were her husband and raising her six children. Beyond being a devoted wife and mother she was a member of the Norwalk, Ohio, Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Prior to her decline with dementia Virginia claimed she was "... the only 80 year old woman that opened the newspaper and read the sports page first". She was a staunch Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and always watched their TV games. Surviving are daughters, Kathleen Mahoney of New London and Rebecca Mahoney of Wellington; sons, Thad (Marilyn) Mahoney of Seville, Terry (Pam) Mahoney of Ashland, Tim (Terri) Mahoney of Spencer and Todd (Judy) Mahoney of Homerville; as well as 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by sisters, Mable Ruth Kuhns, Madonna Ganoe, Alma Ganoe and Edna Ganoe and brothers, John, Donald and Thomas Ganoe. Friends may call Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 6 to 9 PM at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, Ohio, where a service will be held Monday, April 16, 2018, at 11 AM with Brother Derek Neiding officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery in New London.
