Virginia Grace McKisson, 79, of Wellington, died at her home on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 under the care of New Life Hospice. A daughter of the late Marian and Jennings Davy, Virginia was born in New London on December 18, 1931. Virginia attended New London High School and greatly enjoyed her years as a majorette during school. Virginia worked as a cosmetologist for several years. She was a member of the Ohio Eastern Star and enjoyed spending time at McDonald's with the coffee club.
During her younger years, Virginia loved to travel with her husband, James; she especially loved going to the lake. Virginia was fond of going out to eat, particularly for seafood, and found great enjoyment in trying new restaurants. With a creative touch she designed and sewed her own clothing. Her other hobbies including listening to big band music, dancing and spending time with her kids and grandkids, whom she loved very much.
Survivors include her son, Doug (Kim) McKisson of Wallingford, KY; daughter, Sharon (John) Doddroe of New London; 2 grandchildren, Emily and Connor; brother, James Mitchell and sister, Frances Leech. Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Calvin McKisson; son, James Jennings McKisson and sister, Pat Janosko.
A private graveside service will be held Monday, April 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Donations in memory of Virginia can be directed to New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
