Obituary

Virginia Wenger, 94, of Ashland passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Lutheran Village of Ashland. Born on September 27, 1924 in Elyria, Ohio to Francis and Lillian (Giberson) Boyd, she had lived in the Nova/Ruggles area since a child. On February 7, 1944 she married Alvin "Wimp" Wenger. They owned and operated Wimps Welding and Repair in Ruggles until 1960, then owned and operated Wimps Garage in Nova. Virginia was known for her volunteer work for the Nova Fire Department. She retired from the Mapleton School District after driving school bus for 35 years. In 1988, she and her husband moved to Arizona to land they had bought in 1960. They resided there until Alvin's death in 2015 then she returned to Ashland. Surviving are her daughters, Diana Massie and Donna Fry of Ashland; her sister, Frances Asire of Sheffield Lake; grandchildren, Greg (Pam) Massie, Nishele (Ed) Lenards, Dina Anderson, Christine Fry and Russ (Stacy) Fry, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 71 years, Alvin; brothers, Albert and Glen Boyd; sisters, LaVern Winter, Opal Shepherd and Wanda Mathey and a great-grandson. Services will be held at a later date for Virginia and Alvin with a burial at Ruggles Cemetery.
