Vivienne Vashti Cassidy, 84 of Wellington, passed away on July 14, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born on February 19, 1927, and resided in Wellington for over 60 years. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Kathryn Willard and was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger and her stepmother, Virginia Willard. Vivienne is survived by her brother, Charles "Bud" (Enid) Willard, Jr., sisters Patricia McConnell, Susie (Fred) Alspach, and Sally (Mike) Giar all of Wellington; and her children, Herbert (Jana) Cassidy, Lawrence (Lorraine) Cassidy, Constance (Edward) Weidman, Patricia (Michael) Biggs and Jeffery (Teresa) Cassidy. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Vivienne resided in Columbus for 10 years and retired from the Ohio Department of Commerce. She retired to Wellington and enjoyed visiting with friends and family, her monthly "class reunions", the annual family hayride, and celebrating Mother's day and birthday parties held in her honor. Vivienne had a beautiful soprano voice and performed at various civic and church functions over the years. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging and the Elms Retirement Village for their care and assistance; Pastor Lea Mahan at Wellington Methodist Church, and the Wellington Methodist Women's League. A memorial service will be held at the Wellington Methodist Church on Sunday, July 31, 2011 with visiting hours beginning at 3 p.m. and the service beginning at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Vivienne's memory to the American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, or to the charity of your choice.
