W. Jack Hall passed away at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Firelands in New London of natural causes following a brief illness. He was born March 3, 1923, in North Olmsted, Ohio to Elmer S. Hall and Grace B. Smith. Jack graduated from Olmsted Falls High School in 1941 and moved to New London in the mid 1940's. He met and later married Mildred Loree (Milly) Howland on May 24, 1946.
Jack spent most of his life farming in the New London area, first on his parent's farm on Gore Orphanage Road in Lorain County and later on the farms that he purchased in Huron County. Periodically he supplemented his farming income by working at Burner & Sutherland Hardware Store in New London as their repairman / Mr. Fix-It. He also worked as a carpenter for Bay Construction in Sandusky where he helped construct, among other things, some of the rides at Cedar Point. Jack also was elected as a New London Township Trustee and held that position for many years. After he retired from farming, he helped construct their only 'new' home in New London on Clyde Avenue. The design for the home was chosen by his wife Milly. She had always wanted a home with tall white pillars in the front. After his retirement, he spent many busy hours in his wood workshop constructing bookcases, tables, chairs and porch swings which he mostly gave away to his children and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Milly, of New London; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Donna Hall of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Cheryl Hall of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Sid Geist of New London; and a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Burshel Kidd of New London; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer in 1954 and Grace in 1964; his sister, Verna in 1970 and his brother, Dale in 2002.
