Wallace "Wally" R. Morris Jr. 95, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 30, 2019. Born July 21, 1924 in Seth, West Virginia, to the late Wallace R. and Velda L. (Hudson) Morris, Sr. Wally was one of 15 children. He served in the United States Army, and was a World War II Purple Heart Veteran. Wally worked many years at Union Carbide, later known as Elkem Metals, in Ashtabula, Ohio, where he retired as a security guard in 1984. After retiring, he and his wife performed missionary work for Helps International Ministry for two years. Wally enjoyed playing the Dobro guitar, sharing his talent at local nursing homes and church. Everyone who knew Wally loved him for his personality, quick wit, and his West Virginia hillbilly humor with all friends and family, he made everyone feel important and loved.
He is survived by his bride of 48 years, Thelma A. (Carpenter) Morris, Norwalk, Ohio, by his children, Constance Shepard, Norwalk, Ohio, Valerie (Wayne) Weiss, New London, Ohio, Terri Morris, Huron, Ohio, Cindy Deer, Huron, Ohio, Timothy Morris, Amarillo, Texas, Robin Morris, Conneaut, Ohio, Kenneth Morris, Las Cruces, New Mexico, Kimberly Morris, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Wallace Morris III, Annapolis, Maryland, step-children John (Amy) Johnson, Conneaut, Ohio, Cheryl (Mark) Hellmer, Jefferson, Ohio, Thomas (Kris) Johnson, Hanover, Pennsylvania, Deborah (Jeff) Goss, Florence, South Carolina, Kenneth (Heather) Johnson, Pahrump, Nevada. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, and by 4 siblings, Glenna Jean Truman, Delmas Morris, Janet Truman, and Rhonda Hendricks.
Wally was preceded in death by his son Bryan Morris in 2005, and by his siblings Carl, Mildred, Lloyd, Verla, Dorris, Rufina, Dennis, Don, Dallas and James. He was also preceded in death by his former wife of 18 years Sonia Viruet.
Memorial contributions may be made to Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, in care of the family to assist with expenses. There will be no visitation and services will be held privately.
