Obituary

Walter Babiak, age 85, of Nova, died Saturday December 1, 2007 at his home. Mr. Babiak was born in Baligrod, Poland son of the late Anton and Marra (Szpak) Babiak. He had lived in Germany, Australia, and Cleveland moving to Nova, Ohio in 1959. While in Poland he was a member of the Ukrainian partisans who battled both the Soviet and Nazi forces. He and his wife had owned and operated Wally's Grocery Store in Nova from 1959 to 1968. They then built the Continental Country Store in Nova in 1969. Walter was well known for repairing clocks. Walter is survived by 2 daughters, Angela Robertson of Nova and Gisela (Paul) Mattingly of Chippewa Lake; and a grandson, Robert Robertson of Nova; 2 nephews Zen Babiak of North Royalton, and Ihor Babiak of Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his Wife Maria in October; a son in law Dick Robertson; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, where memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m Br. Harry Finkbone will officiate and memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church Nova Community, 257 State Route 511, Nova, Ohio 44859.
