Walter Dale Carsey, of Norwalk, age 73, died Saturday morning, July 20, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 6, 1946 in Athens, Ohio to the late Charles W. Sr. and Ellen (Aldrige) Carsey.
Walt was a 1964 Albany High School graduate and had served his country as part of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He moved to the Norwalk area in 1967, and married the love of his life, Mary (Vogel) on May 18, 1968.
Walt worked as a heavy equipment operator for Underground Utilities in Monroeville for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and the outdoors and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and his best friend and four-legged companion "Pete".
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary (Vogel) Carsey; children, Michael D. (Tracy) Carsey of Phoenix, AZ, Lisa L. (Dan) Schaffer of Monroeville; grandchildren, Kelby, Mikayla and Hannah Carsey and Ashley, Camron and Cody Schaffer; siblings, Ruth A. Steele of Glouster, OH, Harry D. Carsey of Sutherlin, VA and Byron A. "Barney" Carsey of Albany, OH.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe, Jerry and Charles W. Jr. Carsey.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 11 am until 1 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W Main St, Norwalk, with a service being held at 1:30 pm with Pastor Josh Arrington officiating. Burial will follow in North Fairfield Cemetery with military honors.
