Walter John Curtiss, 46, of Wellington, died Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Metro Health. Born on July 28, 1979, in Benton Harber, MI, he was the son of the late Daniel Curtiss and Lynn Kovach. Walter spent his youth in Michigan before moving to Massillon where he graduated from high school. He made his home in Wellington in 1997.
An Electrician by trade, Walter worked for Lorain Medina Rural Electric where he was a power lineman. He later worked for the village of Greenwich in their electric department. Walter was active in several clubs in the area, including the Eagles, the VFW and the Legion. His number one priority in life was making sure his people here happy and that his family was taken care of. His wife Christina was his happy place. Taylor and her father shared a deep connection, she would refer to her dad as the most selfless person on this planet. When not working or relaxing with family, Walter could be found with his “brother” Kip. Walter also enjoyed golfing in local leagues and with his son, Austin. He also enjoyed fishing and was in the process of building his own fishing boat. Some of his happiest days were spent at the cabin in Baldwin, MI.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 30 years, Christina (nee Lenardos) Curtiss; son, Austin Curtiss, of Wellington; daughter and son-in-law, Taylor and Hayden Matus, of Wellington; sister, Tara Ullisch, of Michigan; and nieces and a great nephew.
