Walter B. Johnston, 65, of New London, OH passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 22, 2019.  He was born November 29, 1953 the son of the late Elizabeth Gmerek (nee Yount) and James Johnston.

Walter lived in the Elyria area before relocating to New London.  He will be remembered for the stories he told of his time spent playing high school basketball.  He was the best all-around story teller, joke teller and a friend to all.    An avid Ohio State sports fan and always kept track of how the New London Wildcats sports teams were doing.  Walter enjoyed taking care of his vehicles.  He had a strong work ethic and worked hard his whole life.

Walter was loved and will be greatly missed by his entire family.  He is survived by siblings, Deborah Hemlinger, Denise Waghorn, Jamie Natal, and Dave Johnston; step-children; Thomas (Sarah) and Steven (Abigail) Fawcett, Melissa (Chris) Ward; grandchildren, Aiden, Luke, Harvey, Winifred, Lillian, Junia, Andrew and Benjamin; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he is preceded by his wife, Annette Marie Meyers and niece, Cassie Natal.
