Obituary

Walter L. Sprinkle Jr., 80, of Sullivan died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 following a lengthy illness. Walter was born May 1, 1928 in Portsmouth to the late Freda Mae and Walter Sprinkle Sr. Mr. Sprinkle attended Spencer High School and served in the National Guard. On December 19, 1949 he married Alberta I. Wacker. At General Motors, Walter worked as a plating machine operator. He also served on the Sullivan Fire Department, was a life member of the NRA, and a Boy Scout leader in Sullivan. Walter enjoyed gardening and tinkering. Survivors include his five children, Walter L. (Euelene) Sprinkle III of Nankin,Susan (Ken)Twining of Sullivan, Thomas(Jean) Sprinkle of Ashland, Michael Sprinkle of West Salem, and Robin Storrow of Wellington; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Walter is also survived by his sisters, Bertha Williams of Lorain and Lorita Morrow of Huntington. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Alberta; a sister, Marion Smith, an infant brother, a granddaughter, Jamie Lynn, and a grandson, Michael. Friends and family will be received from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, December 7 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Carmany officiating. Burial will follow at Huntington Cemetery.
