Obituary

Walter Eugene Tanner, 68, of Ruggles, passed away on March 6, 2014 at his home. He was born on August 11, 1945, in Lodi, to the late Ernest "Merlin" and June (Evans) Tanner. Walter grew up in West Salem and lived in the New London and Ruggles area for most of his life. Walter worked at Amtrak for several years and also as a construction worker. He attended the Ruggles Church and was a past member of the New London Eagles and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gambling, auctions and was an avid card player. He is survived by his companion of nearly 30 years, Donna Michowka; 9 children; several grandchildren; 5 brothers, 2 sisters and several nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Walter's family will greet friends from 12pm until the time of service at 2pm Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London with Pastor Martin Daly officiating.
