Wayne Thomas Hughes, 74, of New London, died Saturday, May 22, 2021 at home. Born on May 21, 1947 in Page, WV, he was the son of the late Thomas and Elsie (nee Smith) Hughes. Wayne moved with his family to Ohio and was a graduate of North Ridgeville High School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps.

Wayne had worked for Lorain Rural Water for many years. He was a member of the Isaac Walton League and always enjoyed taking a chance with a lotto ticket.

Survivors include his sister Karen (Roy) Keffer, of Wakeman; nieces Jennifer (Joseph) Bottomlee and Julie (Robert) Shaw; and great-nephews Dustin and Matthew Bottomlee and Bryce Shaw. Wayne was preceded in death by his brother Paul Hughes.
