Willard 'Bill' Smith, 68, of Nova, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at his home. He was born May 28, 1944, in San Bernardino, California and lived most of his life in the New London and Nova areas.
Bill graduated from Ruggles Troy in 1962. He worked at Mansfield Tire for 18 years and later owned and operated Bill Smith Building.
He was a member of the Nova United Methodist Church, AMVETS of Huntington, Elks in Ashland, member and past commander of New London American Legion, and secretary for New London Eagles. Bill was active in Ashland Big Brothers.
Bill was a coach for the Ruggles Troy Youth League. He loved hunting and golfed on several leagues in New London and Nova. Bill enjoyed NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine (Cline) Smith; daughters, Melissa Smith and Deborah Vivas both of Toronto Ontario; mother, Marjorie Toth of Nova; mother-in-law, Evelyn Cline of Polk; siblings, Gary (Jane) Smith of Nova, Becky Moore of Kissimmee, FL and Tom (Linda) Smith of Cape Coral, FL; brother-in-law, Tom Cline of Ashland and sisters-in-law, Carol (Larry) Hauenstein and Sally (Dan) Dennison both of Polk. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Walter Smith and father-in-law, Hilton 'Pete' Cline.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 7 and from 11 a.m. until the time of service at noon on Friday at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London. Burial will follow at Nova Cemetery. Memorial donations in Bill's name may be directed to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
