Obituary

William S. Berry, 79, of Wellington, died Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin, after a sudden illness. A son of the late Herbert and Opal (nee Motter) Berry, Bill was born in Ashland in February 1934. He lived his entire life in the Sullivan and Wellington areas. He graduated from Sullivan High School in 1952. He served in the 10th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army in Germany in the late 1950s. Bill worked for Columbia Gas Transmission for 34 years and retired as an Operations Supervisor in 1996. After retirement he worked for Napa Auto Parts Company as a delivery man. He was a member of ALPCA (Automobile License Plate Collectors Association), Black River "A" Ford Club Penn-Ohio, the Wellington Eagles Aerie 2051, and the McDonald's Coffee Club. He loved fishing, bowling, and antique cars. Bill will be missed by his son, Bill (Sharon) Berry of Wellington and daughter, Linda (Paul) Burke of Wheaton, Illinois and; four grandchildren, Matthew, Holly, Lisa, and Tessa; sister, Pauline Wohlgemuth, Wooster; and brothers Kenneth (Carolyn) Berry, Perrysville, and Don (Cynthia) Berry, West Salem; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dora D. Berry (nee Dailey), and his brothers Arthur, Eugene, and Virgil Berry. The family will receive friends Friday, January 3 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington. There will be a service on Saturday , January 4, 11:00 am, at the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Keller of Faith Christian Church in Spencer officiating.
