William McKinley 'Pojo' Breland, 63, of Lorain died Friday December 31 at the home of his devoted caregiver and cousin Bonnie Holloway. He was born on January 14, 1947 in New London son of the late Rev. Duffie Mae (Burns) Todd and Elix Breland. He moved to Lorain in 1952 and has lived in the Lorain and Elyria areas most of his life. William was raised by his grandparents Willie and Corine Burns.
William graduated from Elyria High School in 1967. He was a chef for the former L&K Enterprise, the former Tiffany's Restaurant and Perkins Pancake House for many years where he was well known by everyone. He attended the Pentecostal Church and was a state secretary in his church.
He leaves behind the children he raised; James Burns of Elyria, Margie S. Burns of Elyria, Barbara Burns of Columbus, Uvon Burns and Shatika Burns both of Mansfield; brothers, Cleveland (Graces Lee) Todd, Jr. of Elyria, Caleb (Jennifer) Todd of Vera Beach, Florida; stepbrother, Donne Earl (Mary) Todd of Delaware, OH; sister, Elizabeth Todd Chester of Elyria; aunt and uncle, Ruth and Eddie Howell of Mansfield and cousin, Eddie Terry of Lorain. William was preceded in death by his brother, Elder John Todd, grandparents, Corine and Willie Dee Burns, maternal grandmother, Duffie Kinslows of Mansfield, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may call Thursday January 6, from 10 to 11 am at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Chruch, 632 W. River Rd. N., where the funeral services will be held at 11 am Elyria with Pastor Marcettes L. Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery, New London.
