William B. Bryson, Jr., 89, of Wellington, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 atAllen Community Hospital in Oberlin after a sudden illness. He was born on December 19, 1920 in Evart, Michigan to the late William B. and Esther(Milgard) Bryson, Sr..
William and his family lived in many locations while in the United
States military. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and flew in the first wave of planes during the D-day invasion. William also flew in campaigns in Europe, North Africa and Italy. He received the Air Medal with 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters. William was called back to service during the Korean War and later discharged as a Major.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James and Kathy Bryson of Cadillac, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Bill Szabo of Wellington, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Wendy (Gary) Norton of Wellington, Brandy(John) Honoshofsky of Wellington, Kristan Flores of Augusta, Georgia, and Capt. Nicole Bryson and Capt. James Dolson of McChord Air Force Base in Washington State. William was preceded in death by his wife, Frances A. Bryson; great-grandson,Toby Honoshofsky and sisters, Joanne Reed and Margaret Johnson.
