William "Lowell" Gibson, 78, of New London, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 18, 2022, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
Lowell was born on September 8, 1944, in New London to the late Grace Lucille Fairchild and Vernon Lowell Gibson.
Lowell dropped out of high school to help run the family farm after an injury to his father. He would later receive his G.E.D. while serving in the United States Army. Lowell was a lifelong farmer. The family farm has been passed down by many generations. Lowell was a member of Clarksfield Seventh-Day Adventist Church. In his spare time, Lowell enjoyed hunting, making maple syrup, and having breakfast with fellow farmers at the Wildcat Café, including his good friend and neighbor, Barry Pickens.
Lowell is survived by his 4 children, Jack Gibson of New London, Bonnie Gregory of Elyria, Andrew Gibson of New London, and Rachel Gibson of New London; 2 grandchildren, Olivia Rehm and William Rehm, and a sister, Evelyn (Garry) Edler of Wakeman.
In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Atkinson) Gibson, who passed in 1984, and brothers, Robert Gibson and John "Hoot" Gibson.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London, OH 44851. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 10:30 am. The burial will follow in South Clarksfield Cemetery.
