William Martin, 85, of Wellington, OH passed away peacefully on June 23, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born November 26, 1937, in Cleveland at his maternal grandmother's home to the late Margaret M. (Falk) and James William Martin. He grew up in Cleveland, OH and attended Zion Lutheran School and Lutheran High School. He was honored to serve 2 years aboard the USS Neosho, an oil tanker. After his service he worked in various jobs, mostly art studios and ad agencies. After working for the large corporation Acme Cleveland as an art director, he started his own business. Communicating Arts was founded in 1982 and survived until his passing. Bill enjoyed doing watercolors, photography and running his business. He especially enjoyed American history, aviation and military history.
William is survived by his wife, Stephanie Martin; 3 daughters, Barbara (Gino) Melone, Nancy (Mark, deceased) Conlon, and Linda (David) Sadler; 2 stepchildren, Julie (Justin) Shields and Jason (Danielle) Smith. He was also blessed with 7 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Alexandra Melone, Megan Sadler, Brody and Samantha Shields, and Maddy and Lilly Smith; and 2 sisters, Margaret (Ken) Smith and Karen (Robert) Borchert. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dianne Martin, Eda Pattersen and Judy Parker; paternal grandparents, Walter and Margaret Martin; maternal grandparents, Anna and Martin Falk.
His beloved wife, Stephanie and daughters will forever cherish all the wonderful memories they've shared over the years.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 4-7 pm at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St, Wellington. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, June 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 231 E. Hamilton Street, Wellington, OH 44090. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Western Reserve through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be shared online at www.nortoneastmanfuneralhome.com.
