Obituary

William R. Parsley, age 59, of New London, died January 1, 2010 at O. S. U. Medical Center, Columbus after a 5 year battle with cancer. He was born January 19, 1950 in London, Kentucky. William was raised in Norwalk, where he was a 1969 graduate of Norwalk High School. He had lived in New London from 1971 until 1979, then in Vermilion and from 1985 until the present in New London. He served in the U. S. Army in the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1971. William had worked at Certainteed in Avery for 5 years. Then he worked for U.S. Steel in Lorain as a utilities supervisor until his retirement. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2743 Ohio and the New London American Legion. Bill loved to fish, hunt, walk his dog, Abby and ride his motorcycle. Most importantly Bill loved his family. He is survived by his sons, William M. Parsley of Sandusky and Eric L. Parsley of New London; his father, Ashford Mullins of Norwalk; 2 sisters, Emma (Jeff) Arman and Mary Allen all of Norwalk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie (Marsh) Parsley, in February of 2009 and his mother Wanda Mullins. Friends may call from 6 ' 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2009 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Dan Moore officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Grove Street Cemetery, New London. Memorials if desired may be given to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Northern Ohio Chapter, 23297 Commerce Park, Cleveland, Ohio 44122.
