William "Bill" Robert Regal Sr. 81 of Wellington, formerly of Lodi died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 after a years illness. He was born June 4, 1931 in Elyria to the late Theodore and Fern (nee Horton) Regal. William grew up on a farm in Huntington and also had a home in Lodi for many years. He had lived in Wellington for the last 3 years.
William was known by many as a "#1 truck driver" and he enjoyed talking about trucks and truck driving. He enjoyed spending time with his friends whether it was with the Wellington McDonald's "coffee club" or a group of friends in Lodi at a local diner. Bill enjoyed wood working and had built picnic tables and wishing wells for his family.
William is survived by his wife Phylis (nee Dague) Regal. In August they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his children William Jr. (Sandee) Regal of Wellington, Chris Smith of Wellington, Ted (Teresa) Regal of Sullivan and Susan Regal of Wellington; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Siblings Jim (Marilyn) Regal of Wellington, Phillip Regal of Mt. Vernon, Marilyn (Dick) Foster of Florida and Cheryl (Kenny) Gallatin of Ashland. William was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Riddle and a son-in-law Don Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Friday March 1, 2013 at 11 am at the Penfield Community Church, 40775 State Route 18 East, Wellington, Ohio. Pastor Chris Reutepohler will be officiating.
