William C. Westfall, 90, of Wellington died peacefully on Tuesday evening, November 3, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born on July 23, 1925 in Gassaway WV to the late Emerson W. and Erma (nee Henderson) Westfall. In 1943 William entered the United States Army and proudly served with the 101st Airborne Division in England, Holland, France, and Germany.
William worked 28 years with Modern Tool and Die as a Press Operator, retiring in 1987. He was a member of and attended the Wellington First United Methodist Church. William was a lifetime member of the North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching and following the Cleveland Indians. William will be remembered as a kind and loving person who cherished his family, he especially loved visits from his great-grandchildren and always had a peppermint waiting for them.
William is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jaunita (nee McDaniels); his children Debra R. (David) LaChance, of Wellington, and Daniel C. (Penny) Westfall, of Lewiston ME; daughter-in-law Brenda Westfall, of Pensacola FL; grandchildren Melissa (Ron) Schnur, David (Sheri) LaChance, LT Col. Kristi (Chris) Beckman, Sheree (Jason) Lombardo, Jessica Westfall, Nicholas Westfall, Courtney (John) Watson; great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Madalyn and Caralyn Schnur, DJ, Danielle, and Gabrielle LaChance, Zackary and Zyler Beckman, Cade and Sarah Lombardo, and Danny and Tyler Westfall; and sister Wilma Ball of Tampa FL. in addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his son LT Col. William C. Westfall Jr., and his sister Wanda Simmons.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, November 6 from 11 until the time of services beginning at 12 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St., Wellington. Pastor Paul Wilson and William's nephew Rev. J. Edward McDaniels will officiate and burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington, with Military Honors.
