Dr. Wolf Wilhelm Greiffenhagen, born December 18, 1926, in Reval, Estonia, passed away on December 11, 2018. Having been a long time resident of Oberlin, Ohio, during the last year he had resided at the Elms Retirement Village, in Wellington, Ohio. Dr. Greiffenhagen, a retired General Surgeon, received his medical degree at the Hamburg Medical School in Germany in 1954. He then came to the United States where he completed an internship at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a pathology residency at White Cross Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Upon returning to Germany, he completed three years of surgical training in Hamburg. In 1960 he returned to Ohio for a four year surgery residency at Fairview General Hospital, in Fairview, Ohio. Following the completion of this residency in 1964, he joined the surgery Department at The Oberlin Clinic, and practiced there and at affiliate, Allen Memorial Hospital. He retired in June of 1992 after 28 years of service. Dr. Grieffenhagen is survived by his wife, Ruth Greiffenhagen, of Wellington; step-daughter Juyne Triplett (Robert Riordan) of Bay Village, Ohio; step-daughter Julie Simonson (Brad Kennedy) of Wellington, Ohio; son Erik Greiffenhagen (Linda) of Springfield, Ohio; daughter Kimberly Schlenker (Robert) of Bozeman, Montana; son Keith Greiffenhagen of Yellow Springs, Ohio; granddaughter Stephanie Simonson of Cleveland, Ohio; and grandson Stephen Simonson of Cleveland, Ohio. Wolf was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Walter and Elizabeth Greiffenhagen, presumably his sister, Gisela Traun, and his step-daughter, Wendy Suzanne Triplett. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 11-12 p.m. where services will begin at 12 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington.
