Woodrow E. "Woody" Lewis, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 22, 2016. He was born Dec. 26, 1931 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Clyde and Goldie (nee Conn) Lewis. He later moved to Wellington, Ohio in 1947. Woody had lived in the area since that time. He married his loving wife Emma Jean (nee Shepherd) in 1993. Woody loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Deliverance Tabernacle Church in New London. He enjoyed fishing and wood working, and liked to hunt for black walnuts. Woody worked for the City of Wellington, Whirlpool in Clyde, Simms Brothers Auto Wrecking in Marion, and most recently CertainTeed Corporation in Avery. In addition to his wife Emma, Woody is survived by his children, Connie Smedley, Debbie (Bob) McGhee; stepchildren, Julia, Gerald (Kendra), Kenny (Brenda), Carol (William) and Michael; grandchildren, Crystal McGhee (Terry Barkacs) and Danyella Lewis and numerous step-grandchildren; great grandchildren, Terrance and Grayson Barkacs; several step-great grandchildren, and a sister, Loriane. In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death by his first wife, Moverine Lewis; son, Donny Lewis; daughters, Barbara and Billy Lewis Cheney; brothers, Ed, Tom, Jasper "J.C.", Sam and sisters, Opal and Myrtle. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Wednesday May 25, 2016, at Deliverance Tabernacle Church, 4717 Prospect Road, New London where a service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11 am with Rev. Ron Sallee officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk. Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the family or to Heartland Hospice.
