Albert L. Youngless, 87, of New London, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, surrounded by his family at home. Born on September 14, 1931 in Stuben, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Rosemary (nee Lahiff) Youngless. Albert grew up in Norwalk, moving to New London in 1961.
Albert worked for the Norwalk Rotary Printing Company for 28 years and served as the President of the Printers Union, he then worked for and retired from Columbia Gas after 13 years. He was an avid hunter, and a member of the Rural Coon Hunters Club. Albert also enjoyed spending time in his garden and traveling with his wife Edna. Most of all he cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Edna (nee Haywood); children, Richard Shepherd, of New London, Janet (Ken) Hockenberry, of Manassas, VA, Robert (Beth) Shepherd, of London, OH, Jill (Dale) Elek, of Elyria, and Theresa Youngless, of New London; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law John Heath. Albert was preceded in death by his siblings Dorothy, Mary Margaret, Raymond, Robert, Myron, Harold, and Lawrence.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, July 12, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West main St, New London, from 5:30- 8 p.m. with a rosary service beginning at 7:30 p.m. A Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish, 18 Park Ave, New London, beginning at 10:30 a.m., Fr. Ted Miller will officiate and burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, New London. Those who wish to honor Albert’s memory, the family suggest that the Rosary be prayed, and if donations wish to be given they be directed to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, 44870.
