Alger Risner, age 83, of Greenwich, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 16, 1930 in Royalton, Kentucky, son of the late Cisco and Earsie (Montgomery) Risner. Alger grew up in Michigan and had lived in Greenwich since 1961. He worked for Shelby Air Depot before being transferred to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Akron Standard Mold and finished his career as the founder of Risner Drywall from 1975 to present. Alger attended the Foundation Church, Norwalk. He was a very hard worker, enjoyed gardening and landscaping, rabbit hunting and loved his family and all children.
He is survived by his children, Bob, Gary, Larry, Doug (Kim), Kevin (Tracy), Chris, Brandon (Angie) and Deborah Risner, Twila (Cameron) Ridenour, Teresa (David) Hunter, Debi (Blair) Hunter; 20 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren with 2 on the way, 1 great-great grandchild; special friend, Cookie Miller; siblings, Beth (James) McCormack, Donna (Roger) Smith, Shafter (Maxine) Risner, Glaster (Alva) Risner, Ray (Elizabeth) Risner; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Risner; second wife, Helen Risner; children, Anthony and Michael; grandson, Nathan Risner; brother, Vaxter Risner and sister-in-law, Toni.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Ripley Church, 4130 South Edwards Road, Greenwich where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Eric Robinson and Pastor Bob Hudberg officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Foundation Church Building Fund, 87A West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio 44857 or to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
