Alma Juanita “Nita” (Cochran) Dittman slipped into God’s arms Wednesday morning, September 27, 2023. She was born on June 9, 1932 in Slam, PA to Willis W. Cochran and Jennie Mae (Rossman) Cochran. She was one of twelve children.
Alma Juanita married Raymond Carl Dittman on December 24, 1953. They moved from Pennsylvania to Ashland before settling in Greenwich, were Nita spent the rest of her life.
A retired handicapped school bus aid for South Central School District, Nita often spoke of the children and how much she enjoyed helping them. Nita was well known for her cookies and hospitality. Those in need were always welcomed at her kitchen table, a gathering spot for the many who knew and loved her. She had the greatest sense of humor, worked hard and built a life for herself that she loved.
Nita is survived by her three sons, Ken, Doug, and Steve; two sisters, June (Cochran) Ross and Bea (Cochran) Vossburg; many nephews and nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren. All of whom loved her and will miss her dearly. Nita was preceded in death by her parents, spouse and nine siblings and daughter-in-law, Fran Dittman.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 11 am – 1 pm at the Ripley Church, 4130 S Edwards Road, Greenwich, where her Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Eric Robinson officiating. Burial will take place at Edwards Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Ripley Church.
