Ardith Jordan Obituary

Ardith Jordan went home to her eternal resting place on July 19, 2018. She led a life of servitude, and impacted many lives through coaching, political and environmental activism, community leadership and most importantly as a witness for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was born March 4, 1941 to Helen (nee Rife) and Graydon Jewett and grew up on the family farm in Rochester Township. She attended Rochester and Brighton Elementary Schools, and graduated from Wellington High School in 1959.

While in high school she met the love of her life Sid Jordan. She and Sid were married on November 7, 1959 and they started a family whom she was deeply devoted to. They lived in Wellington for their first decade of marriage and then moved to Nova in 1970. It was there they created a homestead of love and nurturing and where many fun filled family activities were hosted; Thanksgiving feasts, Christmas Eve, fall bonfires, birthday parties and the occasional impromptu family get together for dinner.

Ardith was very involved with many local sports organizations, had a passion for coaching softball and watching her children and grandchildren participate in as many of their activities as possible. Her booming voice could be heard at many a sporting event as she cheered for those she was supporting or questioning an official's call. She was involved with the Ruggles-Troy Youth League, Mapleton High School Sports Boosters and was a Charter member of the Ashland County Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors.

She was an activist with CAP (Citizens Against Pollution) where she successfully helped oppose the toxic waste incinerator proposed in Nova during the late 80's. From there she felt a calling to become involved with politics; where she became a Troy Township Trustee and eventually she ran for State Representative in the early 1990's.

She was very active in Ohio Eastern Stars where she was a member of West Salem Lodge 324, ultimately ascending to the position of Worthy Grand Matron in 1987.
She was a member of Nova United Methodist church where she was lay leader, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir. She was always looking to inspire and lead those around her to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

Ardith will be missed by those who knew her, but knowing she has eternal life with our heavenly father is great solace for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Armin Jewett and Grandson Ryan Poznako.

"Gram" is survived by her husband Sid to whom she was married 58 years, sister Julie (Chuck) Bailey of Castle Rock, Colorado; children Susan (Mark) Morano of Lorain, Terri (Tom) Banks of Spencer and Mark (Melinda) Jordan of Westfield Center and eight grandchildren whom she adored dearly: Nicole (Ryan) Scott, Anthony (fiance Christine Borow) Morano, Andrew (Jessica) Morano, Katie Morano, Nate (Katie) Jordan, Alaina (Adam) Michel, Janelle Jordan and Mckenna Jordan. She had five great grand children.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, with an Eastern Star Service beginning at 8:30 pm at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S.
