Betty Louise Bonewit

Betty Louise Bonewit, 92, of Wellington, entered into rest March 20, 2019 at Mercy Oberlin Hospital. She was born on August 15, 1926 in Ashland, Ohio to Oscar and Bernice (Fry) Markel.

She loved to knit and crochet making well over 400 Christmas stockings for family and friends. She also liked to travel and participate in the activities with the Wellington Senior Citizens. She worked as a waitress at Islay's and then for Miller's Grocery Store. Betty retired from Forest City after working there for 21 years. After retirement, she worked part time at Wellington Ponderosa for a short time.

Our family would like to thank Keystone Pointe for their marvelous care of our mom. We especially would like to thank Holly for the wonderful job she did in caring for mom also.

Survivors include children Richard (Linda), Jean (Charles) Barrick and Lou Anne (Robert) Box; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Pat Markel and Donna Markel and brother-in-law, Roby Kimbler. Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Shepard and her second husband of 46 years, Harold Bonewit; sisters, Evelyn Biggs, Lona Mae Paugh and Anna Kimbler; brothers, Samuel Rolland Markel and George Markel.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main Street, Wellington. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Tina Siroki. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
