Bonita M. “Gramma Bear” Baldwin, 85, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, at The Willows at Bellevue. She was born on August 8, 1938, in Plattsburgh, NY, to the late Albert T. and Gladys L. (Strailey) Olson. She graduated from Grier High School in New York.
“Gramma Bear” as she was affectionately known was super sweet, always putting everyone else first. She cherished her family, loved cooking and baking and was a wonderful wife to her late husband Jack until his passing in 2017. Bonita also enjoyed dealing antiques and writing articles for the New York Star-Gazette in Elmira, NY.
Survivors include her children, Tammy (Ron) Schaffer of Norwalk, and Eric (Lynnette) Baldwin of Milan; siblings, LaVonne Olson and Steven (Pat) Olson; grandchildren, Sonia (Brian) Barker, Renee (Kyle) Martin, Nichole (Talmadge) Harder, and Christopher (fiancé, Kirsten Hall) Baldwin, Christina (David) Gilchrist; and great grandchildren, Brady and Anthony Barker, Mia and Aubrie Martin, Grant, Colin, Landon, and Brielle Harder, and Myles Gilchrist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Baldwin in 2017.
Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. with Pastor Ann Marshall officiating.
