Byron E. Fike of Medina passed away March 2, 2019. He was 80. He was born in Accident, Maryland, son of the late Ralph and Iva (Humberson) Fike.
On October 14, 1961 he married the love of his life, Joyce McClelland. Byron was a retired truck driver. He drove truck most of his career for Duff Truck Lines. He served as the Fire Chief for Chatham for many years. Byron was a member of the Medina First Baptist Church. He was a farmer raising crops and cattle for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Byron (Jennifer) Fike of Medina, Roberta (Ron) White of Nova and Amanda (Bryan) Schritz of Spencer. His grandchildren, Karl Fike, Chalon (Josslynn) Fike, Grace Fike, Kathrine Fike, Rose Fike, Anna Fike, Jerad White, Erica White, Shelby White, Jacob Schritz, Phillip Schritz, Anthony Schritz, Samuel Schritz and Daniel Schritz; his great grandchildren, Penelope Peters, Adelaide Everly and Joyelle Fike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Raymond Fike, sister, Eleanor Teats and nephew, Barney Teats.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March, 6, 2019 at the Countryview Baptist Church, 557 U.S. 224, Sullivan, Ohio 44880. Burial will follow at the Chatham Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be given to the Chatham Fire Dept., 6429 Kohli Dr., Spencer, Ohio 44275.
