Carolyn Faye Remines, 75, of Wellington, died Monday, July 3, 2017 at home. Born on March 8, 1942 in Tazwell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rebecca (nee Mabe) Gilley. Carol moved to the Wellington area as a teenager and spent her adult life there.
Carol worked at the trackside diner for many years. She played softball with the Wellington Women's League and enjoyed Bingo. Carol enjoyed being outside whether it was tending to her rosebushes or riding her bike around. She was a talented at crocheting and won several awards at the county fair. Native American themed items were a favorite to collect, and she was proud of her Cherokee ancestry. Carol will be remembered as strong willed yet understanding and always willing to help. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who took a very active and hands on approach; she was happy to join in the fun whether it was playing ball or going swimming.
Survivors include her children Barbara Jennings, Patricia (Richard) Hardy, and Lori Dewitt all of Wellington, 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings Roger, Darrell, Lorraine, and Christine. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Remines, son Richard Remines and daughter Catherine Mudrick, siblings McKinley, Evelyn, and Sylvia.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, July 6, 2017, from 1-3 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington. Burial will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Condolences may be expressed online at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
