Charles Coffman Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Coffman, 67, of Greenwich, fought the good fight, kept the faith, and finished his race on May 16, 2016 at Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights. Chuck was born September 1, 1948 to the late John and Fern (nee Hopkins) Coffman. He spent most of his life in the Greenwich area and graduated from South Central High School. Chuck proudly served his country in Vietnam as part of the Army's "Big Red One" 1st Infantry Division.

Charles was a man of faith who loved his family. He cherished the time he had with his wife, children and grandchildren, and appreciated family gatherings, going out to eat, and going for car rides. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked hunting and fishing, and loved his beagles. Chuck also enjoyed woodworking, LEGO's and puzzles. He loved farming and the smell of fresh turned dirt. Chuck was a member of the American Legion Post #41 in Norwalk, and the VFW Post 2743, also in Norwalk. He had worked diligently for over 30 years as a hydraulic assembler for Plymouth Locomotive.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife Laura (nee Fox). The two spent 22 wonderful years together and had recently renewed their wedding vows. He is also survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Tanya) Coffman of Greenwich, Ken (Sandi) Dendinger of Norwalk; grandchildren, Cheyanne, Kassie, Mason, Wesley, Joe, Summer, Nick, Michael and Harry; great grandchild Axel; siblings, Barbara (Raymond) Augenstein of Greenwich, Betty (Marvin) Atherton of North Fairfield, Darrell (Linda) Coffman of Berlin Heights and Rick (Sue) Coffman of Shelby. Chuck is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Rowe, and her husband Paul Rowe.

The Coffman family will greet friends from 1 pm until the time of the service at 3 pm on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Eastman Funeral Home, Greenwich. Pastors Bob Hudberg and Jeff Watson will officiate with military honors following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Foundation Church Building Fund, 87A West Main St., Norwalk, OH 44857.
